Luis Suarez wins an award

Uruguayan man, Luis Suarez, has won the football writer's Player of the Year award despite only a year ago being only slightly more popular in the national press than operation yewtree sex criminals.

The Liverpool forward pipped Steven Gerrard and Yaya Toure to the prize, with FWA chairman Andy Dunn saying:
"Tireless endeavour allied to extraordinary imagination makes an irresistible combination,"
"Add ingenious, impudent finishing and you have a footballer who truly quickens the pulse."
It's a fairly remarkable turnaround for a player the tabloids would probably have deported were they given the power this time last season and a large portion of the praise for this should go to his PR team.  Judging by the job they've done restoring his reputation I'd go so far as to say they could probably save someone from jail who ran a woman over in his car outside Tesco yesterday, even though to anyone watching it looked very intentional because it was.  So if you happen to have their number I could really do with it round about now.
