Zenit fans love "tradition"

Some traditions are good, such as roast Turkey on Christmas Day and England losing on penalties. Some are bad, such as hating black people and homosexuals.

A fan group of Zenit St.Petersburg have sent an open letter to the club asking them to uphold traditions and refrain from buying black or gay players. This is actually real.
"We're not racists but we see the absence of black players at Zenit as an important tradition"
The use of the word "but" always guarantees the person is actually racist. So far the club have refused to comment, presumably because open letters from racist nutjobs don't really deserve a response. Everything I read in the news and watch on YouTube terrifies me about Russia but then I'm white so I shouldn't be frightened.

Hulk has been a controversial signing for Zenit because of the huge wage that he is on, and also because the fans can't figure out if he is really black. They need confirmation before they commit to throwing bananas, bananas are expensive in Russia. It reminded me of the Michael Jackson South Park episode. "I'm never going to frame an innocent man  again, unless I know he's black for sure!".
