Joey Barton attended his first game at Marseille this weekend and was particularly pleased to see the home fans' banner for him, which read 'Welcome Sweet and Tender Hooligan'.
Apparently it's a Smiths lyric and since French people love The Smiths I guess that's why they did it. Also he's a hooligan, so the two work perfectly together. It's like a match made in heaven - Joey likes The Smiths, French people like The Smiths - what could be better? Nothing, until he starts beating them up.
My opinion of The Smiths is: 'quite good'. But I do hate his voice quite a lot on certain songs. I sent that to NME and they didn't even print it
