Newcastle sign scout for 8 years

Newcastle United have correctly identified an important part of their operation and signed chief scout Graham Carr for eight years, meaning he will still be looking for the Ben Arfa's of the game when is 75.

Carr is the man responsible for signing Cabaye, Tiote and Cisse amongst many others, apparently being paid lots of money to live in sunny France and occasionally tell Alan Pardew who he reckons is good.  It's a great signing for Newcastle because it means they'll stay ahead of the pack, but how other scouts didn't realise that a French league winner and one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga weren't worth investigating I will never know.  He could honestly just go and sit on a beach all day with Football Manager on holiday mode, occasionally stopping it when it reaches 2020 and telling the club who the most expensive players are at the time, compiling a dossier with images from Google, basically pretending that he knows anything about football at all.  Sort of like me.
