Grant Holt is too old

Norwich City striker Grant Holt took time out of mining coal and fixing someone's plumbing to voice his disappointment at being told is too damn old to get a three year contract.  He is 31.  Controversial!

31 isn't really that old for a footballer but you still can't guarantee that someone whose only really skill appears to be 'strongness' will still be worth an expensive contract in three years time, especially when the club he plays for will definitely be back in the Championship by then.

Holt's agent spoke of the turning point in a contract negotiation meeting when chief executive David McNally condemned the power house forward to the old folk's home:
"David bluntly turned around and said 'you're too old so forget a third year',"
Zing!  Man, what a scorcher that is.  I think the way to look at this is if 33 year old Didier Drogba isn't getting a two year deal and he's still one of the best strikers in world football then I'm not sure Grant Holt should really be getting anything that lasts too long.  He looks like he grew up in a forrest with horses as parents.
