The financially doomed League Two side told their players after their 1-1 draw against Crewe on Tuesday that they wouldn't be getting paid anytime soon, which is a really good way to get them motivated and push for that play-off spot they need. If they manage to get through the rest of this season they can always buy players in the summer and make a push for League One... oh snap! There's no money, son. And also the club is banned from signing any players. Defender Gareth Owen said:
I think it's time for this team to start thinking outside the box and come up with some innovative ways to raise money. Like making a porno or tax fraud. I'm full of ideas."We had no idea at all [that we would not be paid] which is the most frustrating aspect for the lads and has made them very angry."I've been speaking to the PFA [Professional Footballers' Association] to see what they can do but that will take time. So we'll have to survive for the next couple of months without any income at all."
